About the project
We photographed the whole office and rebuilt it with 3D Gaussian Splatting, a technique that represents the scene as millions of small blobs of colour instead of polygons. It looks almost photographic: the chequered floor, the stained-glass doors, the mouldings and the light coming in through the windows.
You walk the scene freely in the browser, corridor by corridor: the entrance hall, the arches, the glazed doors and the kitchen at the back, with no floor plans or renders beforehand.
The viewer is built with React Three Fiber and custom shaders for loading and presenting the splat. It is the base for the lab's other Gaussian Splatting projects.
